BBL 2021: SCO defeated HUR by 42 runs
In the 15th match of the Big Bash League (BBL), Perth Scorchers defeated Hobart Hurricanes by 42 runs. Perth’s team scored 167 runs for 7 wickets in 20 overs in the first inning. In the reply, Hobart Hurricanes’ team could reach only 125 runs for 9 wickets and lost the match. Kurtis Patterson was declared player of the match.
Perth won the toss and decided to bat first but Josh Inglis was dismissed without adding a run. After this, Kurtis Patterson and Mitchell Marsh put together a half-century partnership for the second wicket. Meanwhile, Marsh also kept on going on a personal score of 21 runs. Munro, Turner, and Evans also could not do much but Kurtis kept on scoring runs standing at one end. Ashton Agar played a stormy inning of 30 not out off 11 balls from the lower order. Kurtis Patterson was also dismissed after scoring 78 runs in 48 balls and the team’s score reached 167 runs for 7 wickets. Jordan Thompson took 3 wickets for Hobart’s team.
Playing in reply, Hobart Hurricanes lost their wickets early on. Matthew Wade, Darcy Short, and Caleb Jewell scored 13-13 runs. After him, Ben McDermott also continued on the personal score of 8 runs. This cycle continued and the run rate did not increase. In the end, the target became difficult for Hobart due to the high required run rate. In this way, Hobart’s team reached the score of 125 runs for 9 wickets. Andrew Tye took 3 wickets for Perth. Peter Hatzoglu and Ashton Agar also got 2 wickets each. Kurtis Patterson was adjudged player of the match.
